In September 2017, Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality issued document No. [2017]331 which officially approved the establishment of Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Driverless Train Control of Urban Guided Transport. In May 2018, the founding meeting of the Center was held at CASCO, marking its official establishment.
The Center, led by CASCO, is co-founded by Shanghai Shentong Metro Group Co., Ltd., Tongji University, East China Normal University and Shanghai University. It adopts industry-university-research collaboration, fully integrates all kinds of resources, and promotes the synchronous cooperation and innovation among rail transit users, academic institutions and research units related to the industrial chain. In this way, a complete industrial ecological chain is formed to focus on the key engineering technology research, industrialization development and operation management of the driverless train control system in the field of rail transit, and carry out all-round and effective cooperation.
Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Railway Intelligent Dispatching Command System was approved to establish in August 2019 by Shanghai Municipal Development and Reform Commission (document No. [2019]94), and was formally set up in CASCO in November 2020.
The Center is led by CASCO and jointly built by China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd., Shanghai ShenTie Construction Management Co., Ltd. and Tongji University. It focuses on the research of the core technology and the development and application of critical equipment related to railway intelligent dispatch and command system, as well as the construction of a platform of sci-tech innovation inclusive of technical innovations, achievement transformation and talent cultivation, so as to drive the development of railway transportation, and further enhance the leading position of China's train dispatch and command technology worldwide.
In December 2020, CASCO inaugurated the High Dependable Intelligent Urban Rail Engineering Research Center, which was officially upgraded to a provincial engineering research center in November, 2021. It will be jointly constructed by CASCO Signal (Zhengzhou) Co., Ltd, Zhengzhou Metro Group Co. Ltd, Henan University, and CASCO Signal Co., Ltd.
The Engineering Research Center covers four functions of technology development, platform testing, talent construction and achievement transformation, and carries out collaborative innovation by drawing upon advantages of resources of all parties and integrating production, study, research and application. Taking CASCO's fully autonomous TRANAVI system as the major solution, the center focuses on the system research, testing and verification of smart metro, to demonstrate smart metro and domestic encryption technology. The research includes the Fully Automatic Operation System 2.0, the linkage of smart dispatching, smart station, smart depot and smart O&M, and the testing of domestic encryption signaling system as well as the evaluation of domestic encryption subsystems.
